Okay, here's my question...we have been invited to go to a cookout tomorrow afternoon and people will be drinking. I have been ttc my second child for over a year and a half now and have almost given up alcohol altogether because I have been convincing myself that every month will be THE month for my BFP. Anyway, I'm tired of giving up things because I just THINK I might be pregnant and each month I am not. I am wondering if I should just relax and have a few drinks tomorrow. Even as I type this it just sounds so stupid. I just finished my period and should be ovulating within the next few days and I just started taking Robitussin (for the first time) today. Does anyone else get tired of giving up things "just in case"? I think I've just convinved myself to lighten up a little and have myself a drink or two tomorrow. :-) What do you think?

lilybug...if you just finished AF there is no way you can be pg right now so it isn't gonna hurt anything if you have a couple of drinks. The only thing that you should worry about is mixing robitussin and alcohol????? Read the bottle and see if it says not to mix with alcohol..if it does, just skip the robitussin tomorrow...I know exactly how you feel about giving up things...that is why in February I decided to take a break and enjoy life a little.
So my vote is, relax, have a few drinks and enjoy yourself....for one day, put you first before anything else...it is OK!

Read the instructions for your medication. If it says to avoid alcohol, then you should be strong and abstain! If not, then one or 2 drinks won't harm you.It will do you good to chill out in the company of your friends & family. You should try to find other ways to relax as well - maybe acupuncture or massage?
I was a bit naughty during my IVF treatment, and had about 8 drinks during my Lupron & Buserelin treatment and I still ended up with 16 eggs being retrieved, 9 of which fertilised normally. Now that I'm incubating 2 embryos, I'm off the juice, apart from the odd sip of wine from DH's glass!

I know what you mean .
I spoke to my RE he said do not deprive your self of everything .
I allow myself a glass of wine every now + then.
I have a glass maybe once every 2 weeks . I was never was big drinker so that was not a big sacrifice for me . I'm allowing myself 1 small cup of real coffee in the AM . I have given up all soda both regular and diet . I somethimes wonder is all this necessary though . Not that its healthy but I know for a fact that my mom smoked like a chimney and drank like a fish while she conceived and gave birth to my sister and I . It was a different world back then but hey - It worked for her and my sister and I grew up to be relativly normal human beings.
I say have a beer tomorrow only if you feel comfortable with it. and wont have any guilt afterwards .

Lilly,
Have a drink. It's too early to do damage if you haven't even ovulated yet. That and if it's before implantation, my opinion is it's still too early. I'm not saying go out and get smashed, um no. That will dehydrate you, but have a drink or two.
I am on glucophage, and the meds say don't drink, but I have not been depriving myself, I figure 1 of anything won't kill me. I'm on the 2ww, and this week was my birthday and I had a glass of wine. My mom smoked and drank with me too, and I turned out fine, I figure I can have 1 drink.
Funny thing, my mil was pg with my bil and was stressing out big time during her last trimester, doctor told her to have a glass of wine in the evenings to wind down. He turned out fine, just turned 17.
Most of all, have a good time at the party and don't stress it! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/dance.gif

I'd say have a drink if it doesn't interfere with the meds! My RE actually advised me to have a glass of champagne (or wine) every night and while TTC! Maybe it's different in Europe?

Thank you ALL so much for your input! I am in a hurry trying to get myself, husband and daughter out the door to go to this cookout but I wanted to logon first to see if anyone responded. I just need to read the Robitussin bottle and if it's ok to drink while taking Robitussin I'm going to relax and have some wine. I know it was stupid if me to ask about drinking before I even ovulated this month but, after trying to get pregnant for so long with no results I just want to cut out anything that might decrease my chances even more. Stupid I know. Anyway, thank you all again for your advice. I'm off to a party!! :-)
