Hello, I had a bump and some discoloration in about 1/3 of my thumbnail for some time now. I just assumed since it started in the middle of the nail that it would grow out. No pain or anything. But now about 1/2 of that 1/3 just up and fell out revealing the nail bed with the remaining part discolored a bright white (vertical). Any ideas?

The 'bump' was more than likely caused by some sort of trauma and the discoloration could have been part of the bruising. The white you are seeing is the thin layer of nail plate still attached to the nail bed. Keep it clean and dry and it should grow out fine. This can take from 3-6 months depending on your genetics for nail growth.
