My husband is on 10 mg. of lotrel (well the generic brand of it anyway) and this past week his blood pressure has went up to around 150+ over 98-104. It has been in the normal range before this week. He has been on this med for a couple of years and also takes cholesterol meds and prilosec everyday. Now he is about 100lbs overweight but he has been that way for several years. I have finally convinced him to go to his dr. if I can get him in tomorrow. Does anyone have any suggestions as to why this is happening? Any home remedies for a quick fix until we get to the dr.? Any help would be much appreciated as I am very worried about him. Thank you :)

One thing you can try is reducing the sodium. I have heard that you can see results in days.

I have started reducing sodium and have put him on a 2000 calorie diet until we can get him to the dr. He was going to go to the dr. when all this started until he found out he can't take off work at this time because there are numerous layoffs going on and he doesn't want to take a chance of losing his job. In the few days since I posted his blood pressure has dropped some, this mornings reading was 138/94 which I know isn't good, but better than it was. I'm worried about his pulse rate too, it has been running high since his blood pressure has been high. He can be totally relaxed watching tv and his pulse will run about 110. The only time it seems to go down to a normal number like 72 is when he will get up in the middle of the night to check it. Is there a reason his pulse stays so high?
