I had a revision done almost two years ago and ear cartilage was used on the tip of my nose and you can now see the outline of the cartilage. I went back to my surgeon and he said it's because of my thin skin, which I was aware could pose a problem. He said, well, we could try to smooth it out a little but then it may mess up the rest. I am otherwise happy with the result, but that part really bugs me! Would love some feedback on this PLEASE!!!

That was an option given to me after a surgeon removed too much to begin with. I decided to not mess with it because it didn't sound too promising of being successful. However, this was 20 years ago, so maybe techniques have improved.

Hi, I am in the need of a revision and in the process of doing consults with different docs. I have been told by a couple that they would use ear cartiledge while others have told me that the cartiledge warps. I was wondering if the cartiledge was visible shortly after the surgery or did it slowly become visible over time? How is the ear incision by the way? I have been told I have thin skin too and am worried about this happening to me. Thats really great though that you are happy with the rest of your result! You are lucky!

Hi canadadiva! Wow, I have never heard that the cartilage warps. Scary!!! It took over a year before I started noticing the cartilage outline. I was told it could be a year or so before you see the absolute final result due to some lingering swelling and that was about right in my case. I'm just not sure if it's worth going through another surgery to try to fix it. As far as the ear goes, no problems there. You can't see the scar at all. Sounds like you're doing it the right way getting lots of opinions. Best of luck to you!!!
