Hi Ive been experienceing chronic headaches for the past 9 months. I have been to my doctor who tells me they are tension headaches. He told me to ease up on the work (i'm a teacher) and have done so but to no avail ive taken numerous medications with no real luck (pain killers like ibuprofen, paracetamol and now amytritylyine which has been prescribed by my doctor) this has helped but only slightly. It starts from the bottom of my neck and moves up to around the tops of myears. I have togo and lie down to make it go away and they can come on at any point in the day. I do regular exercise. Please could somebody help me and try and explain what these headaches are all about??!!! Thankyou.

Hi I was told this by my doctor also..years ago..and went through all kinds of tests and medications. Turns out my problem came from pinched nerves in two areas in my back and two in my neck. I found out all this from going to a chiropractor.. he first took x-rays and then began work on my back and neck. I began this 6 months ago..and I have to tell you. .. I used to suffer terrible headaches, where I would spend all day in bed and end up throwing up it was so bad. And I haven't had any massive headaches for all of 6 months now. Maybe something you might consider looking into. There is deffinitly more to your headaches then just tension.

I have been having the same problem! My doctor first said migraines, then tension headaches. They seemed to go away for a few days but now they are back. Its driving me crazy. I have had a horrible headache for the past 2 1/2 weeks. Its kind of scary to hear that some people have been experiencing this for months to years! Mine start out my lower neck then move up to the back of my head. Eventually it goes to the back of my eyes. A nap cures them for a while but they come back. They seem to be more severe the day after a workout. I do weightlift about 3 times a week and lift somewhat heavy weight. My doctor suggested an MRI but I have yet to do so. I should probably check out the chiropractor and get that piched nerve thing checked out. Anyone have any other thoughts???
