Hi everyone,
I've been hearing that we don't take nearly enough vitamin D. Does anyone know how much is the recommended dosage an adult should take?

Actually, the recommend daily intake is low in my opinion. The Adequate Intake is 400IU (10mcg). If you are living in a place where you receive ample amount of sunshine (let's say Florida), you should have enough Vitamin D. Only those who live in a place where the Winter season shorten the amount of sunshine (like us in the Northeast) a person receives have a low daily intake of Vitamin D. In this case, a Multivitamin or even a Vitamin D supplement will do.

I am taking Nature Made Multi for Him (which includes 1,000IU of Vitamin D). According to them, 1,000 IU has been recommend by Renowned Experts for wide variety of health concerns including bone, muscle and joint protection, support for colon and prostate health and the immune system.

It seems that a higher intake of Vitamin D is the best choice. Several studies seems to back that up. View it here: http://lpi.oregonstate.edu/infocenter/vitamins/vitaminD/

You can find many Vitamin D Supplements pills that has 1,000IU.

What we do not get enough, however, is Calcium. How many people get more than 1,000mg of Calcium a day? Not many. Calcium and Vitamin D works together.

I've been taking 2,000 IU of D3(1000 IU pill 2x/day) daily for about 3 months now. I had my Vit. D tested back in early February...test came back at 44. My doctor considered that fine...but, the "normal" range went as high as 90, so in my opinion...I still think 44 is kind of on the low-end of normal and could be higher in regards to feeling better. I have lots of muscle/joint pain, which could be due to my level of Vit. D.

I take 4000 IU in the Winter, 2000 IU in the Summer when I get more afternoon sun. Just make sure you are taking D-3, not D-2, which can be toxic especially in higher amounts.

My Dr. keeps saying there are studies saying 3/4 of people in studies with anxiety/depression have shown tested Vit D Deficiencies. Has anyone felt that much better after adding so much D3 to thier vitamin regimine?
