Hello, I am new here! Hope someone can help me out! :)

I have just had my Gallbladder removed due to nearly three years on pain killers!! Although, that's not the problem. When they were about to operate they found I have a lump on my liver!! (not nice seeing a picture of your own insides! In full colour!!!!)
I was just wondering if anyone else has had the same or anything like it? They said that I have to go back for an MRI scan in 4 weeks, to give me time to recover from my recent surgery few days ago. They also mentioned it could be to do with taking the Contraceptive Pill?? Any help would be greatly appreciated. As I am sure every one knows it is so hard to think of the best case scenario! Especially as I have to young kids and I am really young myself, well mabye not that young lol :) 24! xxxx

You will probably get lots of info on the adenoma/fnh/haemangioma x13 thread. Sounds like they think you have an hepatic adenoma, if you do a search you will find lots of info, some of it can be a bit scary, the other possibilities are focal nodular hyperplasia, haemangioma and the less pleasant tumours, if you get my drift- I suspect highly unlikely in someone as young as you. Seems that adenomas were virtually never seen before the days of the contraceptive pill- pre 1960, and now they reckon that the incidence is somewhere in the region of 4 per 100,000 women who' ve used the pill. They never told us that risk factor did they? Seems in the UK the liver specialists are more conservative in their treatment of these lesions and tend to watch them for a while provided they're not causing any agro. You should see if you can get a referral to a liver specialist, gastro enterologists and surgeons don't see these lesions often enough to have vast experience of them-
Glasgow or Edinburgh should have some hepatologists. We all have different experiences of these various lesions and its good to chat to others who are going through something similar- I was diagnosed with one back in May and as yet don't really know what it is or what's going on, again that seems to be quite common! I found this message board only recently and there are a few women on there who know a lot more than I do. Hope that this helps
Mc
