Went for my yearly checkup last month and my blood pressure was high. My whole life, it's always been very good. I've checked it a few times since then and it is still higher than normal. Has anyone else registered higher blood pressure since starting peri symptoms?
Didn't think to ask my PA about it and she didn't mention it as a possibility, but I hear about all kinds of different symptoms that aren't normally listed on medical sites or in medical books.
I'm not liking this stage of my life much. My periods stop, then a week later, I have a very light one again; all dark blood and hardly enough to need a pad for. Just irritating. I also seem to be tired alot more, headaches, NO sex drive whatsoever...blah, blah, blah.

My blood pressure has crept up a bit since I started peri, as well as my cholesterol! It's nuts! There are just so many thnigs that happen and change as we go through this stage. I wouldn't worry too much about it, but it might be a good idea to keep track of it for a while. Mine will be up, then down and anywhere in between. Hang in there!

Thanks! Mine isn't scary high, but high for what I usually run. I have so many weird things going on over the last six months, it's crazy. I don't think hubby is too sympathetic to any of it, because it's causing problems for him, too.(He thinks I can just "do something" about my lack of sexual desire. The whole situation is frustrating!

My blood pressure hasn't gone up yet. But I do worry about that. Expecially since I gained 30 pounds over the past 5 years. ugh! But all of the symptoms are no fun. I used to have a healthy sex drive and now it seems it's been gone for over 2 years. I don't know how to fix that.

Mine was high enough to be on meds for it for 3yrs. then it dropped back down. I had never had high blood pressure in my life it usually runs low. I'm now in menopause no period for a year, and looking back over the last 7 years I can see a lot of things I went through were perimenopause symptoms. I'm still fighting symptoms but they don't seem as severe, sex drive comes and goes I know there's a lot of mental attitude that plays a role there. My periods did the same thing yours are doing and I can still be wiped out tired for no apparent reason. Hang in there it will get better, but I would check back with your doc on the high blood pressure they may want to put you on something.

The nurse gave me a little card to keep track of my blood pressure; told me to stop in at Walgreens, etc and check it once in awhile and record it. If it doesn't go down, she said they'd probably put me on something. It's not terribly high, but she said the bottom number is higher than they like. So, it's about time to check it again and see what's up.
I am just starting to notice alot of symptoms that I think are probably related to menopause. It has just started to get more noticeable over the summer, so I suppose I'm just really getting a start on it. In fact, this is only the third month that my period has been so weird. It's never done this before. Yipee; I'm so excited...

Mine wasn't terribly high either and what they put me on was actually Beta Blockers. I'm glad you have an idea of whats going on and you have the kind people here to help you. I didn't have a clue, it was not discussed in my family and I'm the only one whos actually went throught it naturaly. The more I read, the more I found out this time of life is something to embrace its a new begining. No more periods for me that is huge. Listen to your body it will guide you and stay on top of the blood pressure.

Another question for you all! Do you ever have low, dull cramps even after your period is over? Not anything incredibly painful, just there and a bit uncomfortable. I've had this off and on for a couple of days now and wonder if it's part of it, too. I'm getting the feeling that there are things that can go along with all of this that isn't necessarily on the list of symptoms that I've been reading.
