I found out on my 56th Birthday (Oct. 13) the results of my PET scan. I have stage IV lung cancer. Things have been realy wild in my life since then. One question I forgot to ask my nurse about today was she had said not to use an enema for constipation. What kind of problem would this cause?
I started Chemo on October 14th and had my second treatment today. I haven't been sick so far but just wonder if it takes the chemo time to build up in my system before I will? Thank You for your time.

Hello. I am so sorry about your diagnosis. My dad went through his first 7 weeks of chemo like it was nothing. However, after that, he got very, very, bad. I struggled whether to post this or not because I also know people who do fine having chemotherapy. I wish you comfort through your battle.

Be sure to ask for the pills to help protect your stomach and throat from the chemo (2 diff pills).
honestly in the first few weeks of chemo after leaving the hospital I lost a whole 20 pounds because I could not keep food down..got teribbly weak over this throwing up problem. also did a lot of dry retching..yuck. Dr finally gave me a stomach protecting pill and also a pill to help my raw throat too..
the throwing up stopped and its a blessing to have food in me now. Ture food does not have a correct taste at all but at least it is staying in me now that I have those pills and I am getting nutrition from it.

It depends on what chemo drugs you are on. I was on Taxol and carboplatin and 3 years later on cisplatin and etoposide. Before the infusions of the chemo I was given drugs for anti nausea and stomach in the IV. I never got sick and they were supposedly heavy duty chemo drugs.
