The recommended daily amount for a healthy adult is 1000-3000 mg/day
You don't even have to salt your food to get that. Read labels there is sodium in almost everything. One thing I do to cut down on sodium is to not salt my food. You can use other seasonings such as garlic and onion powder, black and red pepper, paprika and other spices you enjoy. Also rinse canned and jarred foods. Tuna, veggies, beans, peppers and so on. Buy a small strainer and rinse them well under water before eating.

It is suggested that consumers consume no more than 2,300 mg daily sodium. The Grocery Manufacturers Association recently released a policy paper that provides current and scientifically accurate information and resources on sodium and salt. <removed>
