i am just enquiring has my mother is concerned she has got black lines underneath nearly every 1 of her finger nails and has had them for some time now she went to see her gp and had tests done and they came back all clear but this evening she was having her feet done of the chiropadist whom she questionned about these black lines n the chiropadist replied that it is a sign of malanoma cancer is this correct i am asking u and should my mother be concerned and what procedue should she take thank u

If the lines run from under the proximal nail fold all the way to the free edge, then yes, they could very well be a sign of a cancerous growth in the matrix. When these are present, they are usually surgically removed and the end result is a permanently damaged Matrix with apparent damage on any emerging nail plate. These growths can be malignant or benign, but the only way to tell is to remove one and have a biopsy performed.
