Genetics - you inherit your nails from your parents. The nail plate follows the shape of the underlying bone.

If you mean that they start to curve downwards as they clear the ends of your fingers, that is called clubbing. Look it up, there are a few causes for this. It could also be genetic, it depends on how curved they actually get.
