Went to the doctor Friday(AF came the same day as well)
Got my glucophage prescription for 1500 mg/day but was unable to take clomid with it this month due to cysts. We'll just have to hope that this is enough to make a difference. Giving me bad cramps and diarrhea though. Hope that goes away soon. I guess a diet change may be in order. Wish me luck. I need it. Good luck to all those testing this week.

Good luck. When I started glucophage, I started with just 750 / day (broke a pill in half and took half in the morning and half at night), and worked up over seven days to 1500 / day. You might want to ask your doctor about that. The pains / diareha subsided for me after about two months, but sometimes I would be shopping, and it would halt me in my shoes for a couple of minutes the pain got so bad. Good news is, I am now 12 weeks pg after the glucophage, so its good stuff http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif
Again, good luck!!!!

Thank you both so much. Jody, did you take Clomid with the Glucophage or just by itself? My stomach has been okay so far today. I'm just a little nervous because we are driving to Ohio (from NJ) next weekend and you never know if there'll be a bathroom when you need one.

I have been on Glucophage 2000 mg a day for 4 years and no baby for me. I am taking mine for Type 2 diabetes along with another oral drug for diabetes. I will happily report that I do ovulate and am right on the dot with my period every month. It has done that for me. I am going to talk to a ob/gyn this summer about if Clomid is right for me. I do have alot of friends with success stories on the Clomid alone. I have not known anyone personally that has done both at once but have met friends on internet who have been successful.I have been trying to have a baby (not actively the whole time but always unprotected with DH). I do have a child from a previous marriage but that was before I was diagnosed diabetic and hypothyroid.

I have taken glucophage and clomid together. They are not exclusive durgs. Glucophage suppresses insulin and clomid blcoks a hormonal signal to the brain causing thd body to develop more follies.
Good Luck with both.

I am a little confused becasue I was put on glucophage for pco and the doctor only gave me 500 I wonder why mine is so low. I also just find out that I have a large cyst on my ovary.

plm - thank you! yes, 12 weeks and counting (one more week to get out of this dreaded first trimester!).
Octobergirl, I started out with 150 mg of clomid, and each time (3) produced one follicule. Then we went to 75 ml of follistim (injectible) per day for 10 days, and then HCG trigger shot for ovulation. First month on the follistim was the month I got pg. All of this was with 1500 mg of glucophage.
Good luck!!!!!

I am thinking that maybe in the long run I will be at 1500 and that is what counts. I started last week taking one pill a day and then friday I started two pills a day and this friday I will have to take three a day and that will be 1500 a day. But they did not mention clomid or any thing else.
I have a GYN appt. on thursday and anouther follow up endo appt. on friday to tell the doc the results of my sonogram that showed a large cyst.
