My daughter had a fundopliction several years ago. She cannot burp or vomit since that time. January, 2008 she had a perforation (hole) in her stomach which required emergency surgery. Again in October 2008 she had a second perforation in her stomach and again required emergency surgery. An EGD was performed just 3 days before the last perforation and there was no indication of any ulcer or problem in her stomach. Doctors here cannot figure out why she is perforating. The only possible remedy they come up with is to partially undo the fundopliction wrap to possibly relieve gas. Has anyone ever heard of this before? For the first several years after the fundoplication she was okay. She has been advised that undoing the fundoplication is risky, and may not help the problem, but is the only possible solution. Any information will be appreciated.
