I'm always been told that lots of fresh fruit and vegetables in the diet can help lower your blood pressure. Drink lots of water and cut right down on processed food and red meat. Keep fats and processed sugar down - avoid animal fats - monounsaturated fat is best, i.e. olive oil.

You definately want to cut out as much sodium as possible. My doctor always recommended shopping around the outside of the store for the fresh foods, avoiding the aisles and the packaged/processed foods.
