My 9 yr old son has been round and round with doctors about his chronic headaches, which also started to include back pain and hand numbness (a MRI was clear). My son also has an amblyotic eye, which was discovered while trying to figure out the cause of the headaches. A neurologist thought him to have pediatric migraines, which he said could cause back pain. He attributed the numbness to ibuprofen over-use (as well as rebound headaches). He told me to give my son Aleve instead and also to start him on Zoloft. He sold it to me as serotonin levels could fluctuate causing headaches, and the Zoloft will level it out, stopping the headaches.

The mentioned another med but it lowers blood pressure and my son already has low blood pressure.

I can not find anything anywhere that says zoloft is used for pediatric migraines. I am wary of starting my son on this drug.

Thoughts?
