16 years ago I was working at a bank and was 8 1/2 months pregnant. The bank was robbed. I was held at gun point. 2 day's later I went in to early labor. I was put on med.'s to stop it. Now keep in mind there were shots fired. My son was born on time. He has alway been a nevers child. Now 16 years later he has become very sick and all the doctors can find is he has anxiety and IBS. Now what I would like to know is did me getting scared to death play a part in his IBS and his anxiety? Does anyone have an idea? I have be unable to find anything on the web about this type of stituation.

HI

I am so sorry you experienced that..no one should have to go through that....

I am no expert but like every mother out there wan tto do best by my kids, I think you were so close to giving birth anyways that not even something scary like that could affect your son. My dr throughout both my pregnacies has said at that late stage the baby is pretty much fully cooked(!) and nothing can change it now, he is how he is because he was meant to be that way :)
I have 2 kids and they could not be more different personalities! On incredibly outgoing and friendly the other a real clinger......

No, your trauma didn't transfer to him as he was already fully formed and just waiting to be delivered. I think if you look into maternal and paternal family medical history you will find there are others that also have anxiety/IBS.
