I'm 51. This year in April,we moved from Maryland down here to the Carolinas. Ok, I know that's a big step. But all of my periods have been weird. For the third time I have gotten it a week early. Only it's not really a period. It's what I call a "ghost period" because it's so light that it's almost nonexistant. I keep going back and forth between wearing pads to wearing mini pads. Then a week or two later I'll get a real period. This doesn't happen every month. In fact, in August I was 16 days late. I thought I was in menopause, then I got it like normal. I've seen my new ob/gyn and she said at age 55 or so things become real eratic. By why the ghost period and then the period?

All I can say is "wacked out hormones." I have a period every two weeks now when it was every 28 days then it became every 24 days. Each month is now a mystery. I am 49and I know this is just another sign that menopause is creeping up.

Busymommy, well this was the strangest one yet. I had about 4 days of this "ghost" period where a mini was not enough and a regular pad was too much. Just red streaks when I wipped. Then it went right into a regular period. Now I'm 9 days into it. I guess you're right, it's hormones.
