Ok, my 15 DD will NOT keep her finger out of her nose! It is driving me crazy! It is so gross and I really don't want her to continue doing this, but I am not sure how to get her to stop. It all started when she learned how to point to her nose. After a while, instead of pointing to it, she'd just stick her finger in it. Now it's happening all of the time. How can I get her to stop doing this? My best friend said her 15 MO DD is doing the same thing but she too doesn't know how to get her to stop. Advice please! Thanks. :D

Way too funny!!! Madeline used to do this too until she discovered her eyes and her chin. I think the trick is to get her to find other parts of her face. Now when I say "Where are Madeline's eyes?", she blinks them. When I ask her to point to her chin, she does that too. She sort of forgets about the nose. So far so good...but yes, it use to drive me nuts! She did it for about a month. I just kept taking her hand away and giving her something to hold.
How is life with two?? Getting much sleep? Hope all is well!:)

HAHA! My son is in the same boat! I think its funny though, so I'm sure I'm just making him do it more. I figure there are worse places his fingers could be!!! haha And as long as he's not picking his nose and eating his boogers, we're all right!!!! When we're playing he often tries to stick his finger up MY nose, or all in my mouth, He's obsessed with teeth... anyway... we just laugh about it...

Yep, she knows all other parts of her face so unfortunately I don't think I can trick her with that. And she's really doing it now just to do it. Not just to point at her nose. Oh well, guess I'll just have to pull it away and give her something to hold like you did. Hopefully that will work. Life with two is great so far. Madilyn is a completely different baby than Ella was. So much more quiet and content. I guess Ella just prepared me for anything. She is loving being a big sister and I am loving having a newborn again. I forgot how fun it was when they do something new! She smiled at me for the first time last week and my heart about melted!!!!

Tanner has just discovered those cool holes in his nose too! He can't keep his fingers out of them. At first I would tell him "no, don't put those there!" But he would just laugh, probably because I said it with a laugh. I don't see the point in getting mad at him for that. It's harmless...gross but harmless. So because he found my reaction to it funny I know just ignore him. I give him no reaction when I see those fingers up there.

Yeah I don't get mad, but in my mind I am thinking, how gross!!! She would definitely do it more if she thought I was mad. That is just her. :D I think I will just try to curb it with giving her something else to hold on to like Laura said. Hopefully it helps. I especially don't want her fingers up there and then touching Madilyn. Although I am sure they are going to get each other sick a lot, I'd rather keep it to a minimum if possible. I've been lucky with her though, she's only been sick once in 16 months. Hopefully I'll be as lucky with Madi too. Can you all believe our little ones are 16 MO almost? Where did the time go? And I've got another one here now too. Seems like not long ago that we all met on the July mommies board and now look at us! Hope you all have a Happy Halloween!!!

Hey Delia~The time has gone by way too fast. I cannot believe there are already July 09' Mommies out there! It "almost" makes me want another one!
I gave a BIG smile when you mentioned that Madi smiled at you for the FIRST time!!! SO precious! :):):)
As for the nose issue - if I were you, I would just try to keep giving her other things to hold and not make a big deal of it. If you do make a big deal of it, she will pick up on it, and may even do it more. It sounds like you've got a handle on it though!
So glad to hear things are going well for your family! :D

Long time no post for me...
Elizabeth has not started sticking fingers in her nose yet. She is too busy poking people. She thinks its great to poke you in your stomach, or for women it is the chest :nono: So if she is doing something we dont want her to one of us tells her to poke the other one. "Go poke mommy" and instantly the finger shoots out and she comes running over to poke.
We also use the "Where's Elizabeth's ______" trick. She knows head, hair, ears, eyes, nose, mouth, tummy, hands, feet, toes, etc. That ususally does the trick. Or we just say "touchdown" and she sticks both of her hands in the air.
It is hard to believe it has been 15 going on 16 months. No one believes that Elizabeth is that young. Everyone thinks she is about 2 years. She is in the 91st percentile on height and 77th on weight. She has 14 almost 16 teeth, the bottom two I teeth are coming in now.
I saw the July '09 board and I about fell out of my chair... We are shooting for joining the May '10 or June '10 board in the future ;)

Srivera,
Hey! Long time no post is right! It's great to hear an update on Elizabeth! Can you believe I already have another little one to add to the mix? Fate decided that we'd have another little girl sooner than we thought. I still can't believe Ella is 16 months old. Seems like the time has just flown by. And Madilyn is going to be 2 months old soon! It's like I blinked and all of the sudden, here we are! I am hoping to start nursing school in the spring. After I get out, I'd like to have another baby. Just one more I hope. So if it works out right, we might be joining you on the board too!
So good to hear from you! :)
