I was told I was HPV positive in June 08. My doctor then did the horrible test that I told him I would never do again. My question is this. I have been with my boyfriend for over a year and yes I did get it from him. He did not know that he was positive and yes we have a stable and totally faithful relationship. So, if I have it and He has it, then is there any way for my immune system to beat it? I mean wont I just keep having abnormal pap's? We are planning on getting married, but I want to give my son some time before we do that. So will I have problems with this for the rest of my life?

What horrible test did your doctor do? a colposcopy? a pinch/punch biopsy? an ECC? cryo therapy? LEEP?

It is possible that your body will be able to fight the virus. Most people are able to do so. It is possible that it could problems further down the road (in years or decades). That is why it is so important to stay current on your annual well-woman exams.
