How long does the initial outbreak last....when dealing with the discharge for women? I have researched many sites and it just states that there is a discharge.

What about returning to sexual activity? Will a condom for my partner be just ok and as long as I don't have any active sores?

"How long does the initial outbreak last"
It varies widely for each individual. Sometimes weeks. Sometimes one heals and another outbreak pops up right away again. Your body has to 'learn' how to fight the virus and that is different for everyone.

There is a period of 'shedding' that occurs in the whole boxer short area before/during/after the sores appear. So condoms will not protect all those areas of the skin area. I believe I read that you should wait 7 days after all sores have fully healed. But if you are having lesions inside your vagina/cervix then that will be hard to determine. Obviously, if you still feel 'funny' down there, then it's not fully healed.
