For the last week or so, my 8 mth old daughters diapers have been soaking thru and into her clothes. Is this normal? We are using Pampers Cruisers. Is there another brand that I should consider?

Pampers is a pretty good brand so I would run your finger along the elastics to make sure they arnt folded in. Also a trick I found is to spread her lags fairly far apart when positioning the diaper. Somehow it make it fit snugger along the legs.

Yep. Also, when that happens to us it's usually because we are ready for the next size up but haven't realized it yet.

Since my ds has been very young, and had MONSTER blowout poops, it has only ever happened if he's ready to go up to the next size. We use a combination of Pampers Cruisers, and Pampers Baby Dry (I like the cruisers for poops especially, but the baby dry are just as good for pee's I think!), and just last week his #2 came up the back of his size 3 cruiser. We're trying to finish up the box, so I know he's ready for size 4's.
If you don't think size is the problem, I agree with the pp's--maybe try re-adjusting the elastic around the legs after a diaper change?

DS had the same issue with huggies both #1 & 2. And I bought a couple huge packages before he was born. Fortunately, a coworker had a similar issue with Pampers swaddlers and cruisers and her daughter, so we swapped diapers and coupons. For us it only happened with the huggies -- I could use any other brand with elastic -- store brand, pampers... Just not the huggies.

I agree with other posters.. we only have issues with soaking thru when it's time to move up a size. We used to use Pampers but recently switched to Luv's. They are great and a lot cheaper!

Sometimes it just takes some experimenting with different diapers. If you know for sure she's not ready for the next size up, and she still leaks even when you check the elastic around the legs...it can't hurt to experiment with another brand. I swore by Pamper's with my first baby, but my second leaked through them once in awhile. I hated Huggies with my first, and I actually prefer them for my son (second baby) now.

I also use the Bumgenius cloth diapers...I go back & forth between the cloth and disposables. With the Bumgenius my son has NEVER leaked #1 OR #2 and he's had some pretty massive blowouts;)

I don't think you need to change brands, but like others said, move up a size. My kids were always ready to move up before the recommended pounds that they put on the package.

I think it's too costly to experiment with different brands. If you know you like what you're using, then stick to it and move up a size.

I agree with the last poster. My kids were always ready to switch to the next size diapers before the recommended pounds that are listed on the box. I swear by the regular Huggies diapers and had no problem using them with my first two. But my third needed the more expensive Huggies Supreme as they hold more liquid.

Thanks so much for all the replies! The last few times her diapers started leaking, it was time to move up a size, but I really dont think thats the case this time. She is in 3s (the box says (16-28 lbs) and she is barely 20 lbs. I am pretty good about pulling the elastic around her legs, but I suppose I forget here and there.

I have been wanting to try Luvs, I just love how soft Pampers are, so Im afraid to switch. The only other brand I have used is Huggies and they felt like cardboard to me, after using Pampers for so long =)

We use Luv's and I think they are great! We use to use Pampers until we ran out of the ones we got at showers. I decided to try Luvs b/c they were so much cheaper. I'm now a big fan! I think they have a good softness to them! They definitely don't feel like cardboard!

I've also heard good things about Luv's, but unfortunately, they aren't sold where I live!

I am also a HUGE fan of LUVS. We used to faithfully use Pamper's Baby Dry, until I got a clue and realized that LUVS were so much cheaper and work the same. They work great for our 15 month old little girl!

I have twins - 17 and 19 pounds respectively and apparently they have extra capacity bladders and colons - because I resolved the problem by switching to size 4 diapers for day and size 5 at night and they are on the bottom end for size 3's. You might try going up a size.

Thanks for all the great replies! I went to the store with the intention of giving Luvs a try, but that big name brand store didnt have them, so I bought a small pack of Huggies Snug and Dry in Size 3. I never cared much for the Huggies I received at my shower, so I didnt have high hopes, but I loooove these. They are very soft (not Pampers soft, but not cardboard like either), but best of all, they just seem to fit her body shape really well. With the Pampers I felt like I had to tug and shift to get them on right, but these go on extremely easy...and so far, no leaks =))
