Help what should I do. The RE thinks I am having a reaction to clomid. This is my 3rd cycle and at the end of taking it on my 2nd cycle I noticed my skin felt really itchy. But I had 1 more day to take the pills so I took them. Yesterday was day 5 so I took my first 100mg. Well by the end of the day my skin felt like it had bugs crawling all over me and then I got big hives with welts allover my neck. I had to take an antihistamine to get the welts down. I called the RE today and he said I think you should stop. You are having some kind of allergic reaction. He said I could still come in for my monitoring and if I have even one egg they will inseminate me. DH has low sperm count so BD doesn't help much.

Should I just wait and see what happens? Should I try to take 50 mg for the next few days and see if I can tolerate that? I respond well on 100mg so maybe I will respond ok on 50. Help what would you do.

It looks like I have to do IVF!! I think I am going to cry.

Teener ((hug)) - sorry that you are having an allergic reaction! DO NOT KEEP TAKING THE CLOMID even in smaller doses. Believe me, I have allergies and they aren't anything to experiment with. Ask the doc if he can give you something else. I know that you don't want to miss out on this cycle but you don't want to take them and risk it.

taznik- thanks for you fast reply. I know you are right that I shouldn't take it. I called my Dad and he said you did 100mg twice and it didn't work. So don't risk your health for only 50mgs. See what you body does naturally. You are both right. If I keep taking it the reaction will probably get worse and worse.
Thanks. I keep you posted and let you know if I ovulate.

Oooh, sorry Teener. That sucks. I also had a horrible reaction to Clomid. Not allergic, but my eyes messed up and i started seeing 5 of everything. I was really scared, and the eye doc said never, ever to take it again. The problem did not start until the day after I took my last pill, so i did get one full IUI cycle in (DH also has sperm problems) but then I had to move right on to injectibles, which unfortunately is a lot more time consuming due to u/s and bloodwork, not to mention more $$ if you don't have insurance. Good luck!

lemondog- did you have any reaction to the injectables? My RE says they are pure hormone and clomid is synthetic and that is why it is the "ugly monster" drug. I hope I do better on injectables. I am moving on to IVF. If I have at least one egg I will still do IUI this month.

Awww Tina - I'm so sorry - that just stinks. I know how much you hate chlomid and now that damned drug has to wreak more he** in your life.

I wouldn't take it honey - that's not good to have welts and stuff.

HUGS to you http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/love1.gif
