Well girls, that was the funniest dr. appt I have ever attended...DH & I had no clue what was about to happen to him, everything was fine when the dr. is picking and prodding his weiner and danglys, but when the dr. told him to roll on his side w/ his knees to his chest to check the prostate he obliged and then saw the KY coming out and yelled WHAT?? http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/eek.gif The dr. said I am going to stick my finger up your butt and my DH started saying oh no, oh hell no....then the fun began. When dr. first touched him he is YELLING stop it, don't do that, I don't like that, OMGGGGGGGGGGGG! I think everyone in the office heard him, I was rolling on the floor, I cannot beleive he was that vocal about it and he was climbing up the wall to get away, but the dear dr. kept followig him, oh it was great! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/biggrin.gif I wish I had the video cam.

Well as far as DH's SA goes, this dr. says that even though the morph and motility aren't the best they are not the worst, and being that he has 3 times the average count, he thinks there are enough normal ones to get pg., he did tell us that due to DH's surgeries his veins are enlarged on one side which is making him produce tapered swimmers that can't penetrate the egg so that is a concern, he told us that he wants him to test again in 3 mos. and if it is still abnormal, then he strongly recommends IUI, or another surgery which would be more costly and is not as high of a chance of conceiving as IUI. In the meantime, he told me to call my OB/GYN to have them go ahead and start me clomid, so I am just waiting for AF, they are having me take it CD 5-9, then test again on CD 21...being on 50mg, is that going to make me a phsyco or is that not high enough to affect me that bad?? I was on 100 mg of clomid and at one point they were going to up it even more but I couldn't take it. I was having the worst hot flashes and mood swings - it was horrible. They cut it back and gave me an injectible to go along with it.

Best of luck and glad tha tyou got some good news about hubbies spermies.

Thanks y'all, Taz, did the inject. give you any side effects like that? Are they better (more effective) then the other way?
His prostate is fine, maybe not after the dr. chased him around though...lol
I am glad we will be able to get on with it. But it was soooooooooo funny, DH even told my Dad that he was violated, he would not stop grumping about it. Many people don't have side effects on Clomid. I don't and my sister (who got pregnant on 100 mg) didn't have any. Near ovulation there are some twinges in the ovaries. They are generally not painful unless you develop a cyst. They are more just like sensations that you know something is happening.

If you ovulate on your own, 50 mg should be fine. I don't understand the part about CD 21. You should either monitor by u/s starting on day 11 or 12 -- or -- start ODK testing on day 12 until you get an LH surge. You should get an hCG shot when you detect your LH Surge. U/S monitoring is more reliable and helps time the IUI better.

I think w/ CD 21 they just want to see if the clomid is helping...I guess to determine if I need a higher dose?! The IUI is a ways off, at least 3 mos or more depending if nothing happens in the meantime! I hope I don't get all moody and hot flashes...dang I am already a very passionate (moody) person, and always hot to begin with. Good greif what am I getting myself into, I will probably be the girl on TV who is running around town naked like a maniac cuz I am hot and nuts...lol

I am generally a cold person ~ at night my hands, feet and butt are freeeez'n. I wait for dh to fall asleep and then put my cold feet on him b/c he is a human heater. Anywho, the entire time I was on clomid and the injectible (for the life of me I can't remember what it is called and I did two different ones) and I was hotter than he**, never had cold hands or feet. I even snuck the window open on my side of the bed at night just to cool down......THE GOOD NEWS is that it varies by person so hopefully that won't happen to you.

I am moody and it only made it worse, in fact when I went off the clomid doc gave me some PAxil to help w/ my mood swings - that was in February and I am just now going off them...the sun is out and so is my smile http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif

Just take it day by day...my doc told me the entire time "if it gets to much let us know and you can take a break" and that is just what I did.

I did 100mg clomid, took it right before going to bed - had one hot flash and, other than that, had no symptoms at all.

If your dh is around, it wouldn't hurt to purchase an ODK kit. Start on day 12 and test until you see an LH surge, then for 24-48 hours the surge, http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/dance.gif bd http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/dance.gif bd http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/dance.gif http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/bang.gif It could be day 17 or 18 before you see a surge, or you could be lucky and see it early.

Who knows, you could get pg before the IUI, and save a lot of time and money. A friend of the family had a dh with an almost zero sperm count, and they had three failed IVFs. They before they traveled to NY to see a doc there, they found out they were pg on a total non-drug cycle.
