Hey girls,

So, I wrote this big long story last night about what happened yesterday at my HSG with all the great and gorys. Then the cable/modem went out, but I thought I entered it on time. Guess not because it wasn't there this morning when I went to check. Doh.
Anyway to sum up I had an HSG yesterday and though there were funny moments, mostly of my own interpretation, it went ok. Not as painful as I was expecting, which was good. Not a festive test, I can think of better things to do with my day though. Didn't like the needle that he used to shoot dye into the catheter, it was huge, enough to knock out an elephant. I don't do well with needles either Tmer!
The thing that I noticed right off during the test was this light splotch in the middle of the tv screen once the squirted the dye. Uteruses are smaller than I thought, that also surprised me, about the size of a fist, and I was surprised by this THING in the middle of mine. Afterward the doc told me it's a fibroid, and that I'd have to discuss my options with my Becky, my doc. No freaking wonder that I couldn't get pg with this lump the size of Texas in the way. I guess I exaggerate, maybe not Texas, they measured it, and it was 2cm X 1.3cm. It seemed pretty big to me.
What do they do for fibroids? How do they get them out? Do I want to know? Anyone out there have this problem, and how did they fix it? Should I worry?
I'm really not that scared right now, I guess since I haven't talked to Becky yet, I'm not as worried.
Do I need to be worried?
Appreciate your words of wisdom,

When I had my hsg in April 2002, they didn't find anything. Recently on u/s, my new RE's are saying that I have either one or two fibroids. I see any one of four docs in the practice when I go in, so I get different stories from each one of them. One doc says they're not a problem unless they are causing pain, the other doc says they are affecting my lining. But he also said, they generally leave them alone unless they are painful. I would also like to know more about them.

But, I don't think you have to be worried.

Thanks Mindy,
I have been swapping back and forth between worry and not worry, currently I am not worried. I have been having painful cycles the last few months,,but Becky said that with my gluc and clomid I had just moved into a group of normal folks instead. I still feel more normal with the fibroid than I did last year at this time. I researched them a bit and it seems that you can physically get pg with them, but that if it attaches to a fibroid they get bad blood flow and consequently miscarriage. I don't want that, to be a mother is my goal. Other folks do hysterectomy often if fibroids are problems, but that's not an option for me at this point. Folks take drugs to reduce too, but honestly I would just as soon be rid of the thing. I am going to guess that sometimes this week my doc will want me in for an u/s and consultation to see if there are many or if it's just the one. I hope soo. Having this weekend to think has helped too.
Hope yours don't give you too much trouble.
Cathy
