I just had my first IUI done on June 12th so I am in the two week waiting period right now. My concern is that they put me on clomid last month to help regulate my cycles and I was just told today that they should have done a vaginal ultra sound to check that my lining was made to thin for a pregnancy to adhere to.

My doctor just gave me the prescription and he also gave me two more this month in case i need them again. I am scared that the pill that I thought would be helpful might be more harmful for me. Has anyone else had success with clomid without getting all these ultra sounds?

It is so frustrating to go through this stuff and then find out that these suppossed helpful things are more harmful than they are good.

Going out of my mind. Could use some words of wisdom from others who have already been down this road. thanks.

One side effect of clomid is that it can thin you lining. However, it has to be very thin to prevent pregnancy. (6 mm is minimum however drs usually like it thicker.) Most current literature says not to take clomid more than three months in a row because then it will start acting like birth control because it thins the lining so much.

Good News - All you have to do to recover you lining is to take a month break. During a period, you don't shed your entire lining, and when it's thin, you body sheds even less. It sort of knows to hold on to it.

Now saying this - my sister conceived on clomid after taking it six months in a row. (At that point, Clomid should have really start acting like bcp). I guess there is an exception to every rule. The last month she was on it, they increased her dosage to 100 mg and she took an estogen supplement on days 10 - 20.

Good Luck,
Mindy

Thanks for advice. I am so new to all of this that it is difficult since I get some much info from everyone. All I want to do is make sure that I am doing everything right. Thanks again.
