It depends on what strain and how your body responds to the strain.
It is possible your body can fight it, keep it at bay for life, and you never have any problems. It is also possible that it can reactive later in life.
Some strains of HPV (low risk) can lead to genital warts, other strains (high risk HPV) can lead to cancer if left undetected and/or untreated.
I suggest you go to the Center for Disease Control's website and read what it has to say about HPV.
