I finally got my date for my muscle biopsy, December 11. They are going to do another EMG. I had one in September. I wonder if the first one is used as a base to see if there's been any change or why they have decided to do another. As I recall, it wasn't too pleasant, but guess there's a reason to do it again. They said that test would determine whether a muscle biopsy was necessary. My first one was inconclusive. I live very close to a therapy pool and am thinking about going, but am wonder if I should before testing is done. Anyone any experience with the therapy pool?

I remember my EMG. It was 3-4 hours before my needle biopsy. I vividly remember the neurologist had an intern in the room who was "observing". The EMG needles were placed in about 12-15 different locations. Not pleasant but that's another story. I remember thinking each time "he's going to get a big reaction this time" or "he's not going to get much at this location". I was exactly right. Each time he placed the needle into what I knew to be a weak muscle he'd say to the intern "LOOK! here's indication of abnormal muscle function" (This happened in my quadriceps & shins). Then he'd say "this is almost normal" (In my thumbs and biceps which are relatively stronger).

I knew what they were going to see before the machine started giving answers!

Don't know about a "therapy pool" but I have LMG and had a huge downturn a few years back. If I had not had access to a pool I'm not sure I would still be walking. I try and swim at least a half mile five days a weak and do a lot of stretching in the water.

I tried to lift weights but kept hurting myself. Jump in that pool if you haven't already!
