If you are a male and think you may have been exposed to HPV is there anything you can do to prevent exposing someone else to it. How long does the male carry it if he has been exposed. Is there some treatment for the male?

The only way to not spread it (once anyone has it, not just men) is to not have sexual contact (not just intercourse). Anyone who has HPV has it for life (as far as I understand the research results). The only treatment for men is for low risk HPV (genital warts) unless a man develops atypical cells that can lead to cancer (penis, anus, mouth/throat).

this is alarming to me, because how many men do you think are not gonna care if they have HPV because it doesn't effect them personally?

I was just diagnosed with genital warts and tried telling my most recent partner to tell his future partners that he probably is a carrier. but i just don't think he gets it. he seems to think he doesn't have it because he doesn't have warts.

i think there is a big gap in the education of HPV among men. Primarily marketing, testing, and vaccines are aimed at women. I think men get the assumption that this disease is not that big of deal for them, and that because they have no symptoms it doesn't effect them.

frustrating! i wish HPV education and testing would evolve already!

Calidreaming, I totally understand your frustration. I feel very similar feelings.

im wondering if its the lack of funding, or lack of knowledge about HPV all together. But why can't guys have the Gardasil Vaccine? Doesn't make much sense.

most guys i know, don't see a doctor till they have symptoms, or don't believe they have anything unless they have symptoms.

I think most men could feel this way about HPV. it is VERY frustrating!
