DD is alittle over 3 weeks old. I was told she is eating to much because she eats 3-3.5ozs every 3-4hrs I don't think it's to much. Is she eating to much or to often? I've has several older people tell me that I need to put 1/4 tsp of ceral in her milk because she's eating to often and the ceral will help her feel full longer.

I agree with you, and completely disagree with the people telling you to put cereal in her bottle. That is really unnecessary, and most doctors don't recommend it, unless it's for a medical reason (like reflux).
If she is hungry that often, go ahead and feed her, there's no such thing as a newborn eating too much, unless she can't keep it all down.

Umm, no. Don't listen to other people.
Most newborns eat every 2 hours. If your baby is eating every 3.5-4 hours, then that sounds normal to me that she would be eating a little more. I was nursing, so not sure how much exactly she was eating on a regular basis, but when I pumped and gave her a bottle, she ate about 2 oz every 2 hours. Which is normal, so 3-3.5 oz every 3.5-4 hours sound completely normal to me.

Sounds about right to me. My DD was eating 4 ozs every 3-4 hours at that age. She is now 8 mths and so far, she has been a good eater since day one =)

Your baby will tell you when she's hungry. Don't listen to other people. They cannot decide for her. It sounds like she's right on track. Most newborns eat every 2-3 hours.

As for putting cereal in her bottle, it's not always the best decision, especially at such a young age. Unless your doctor advises it for medical purposes (like reflux), then I would not do it.

Congrats on the new addition! :)

Thanks for the replies. I didn't think she was eating to much but everyone you see has something to say so I figured I would just ask. She has no problems keeping her milk down she just gets alittle gassy sometimes but not bad. I didn't think it was a good idea with the ceral I tried to tell everyone that she is too young for it.
She is a good baby she is up and alert from 6pm when she gets her bath til 10pm then it's time to eat most of the time almost 4oz then she is asleep by 10:45 she will wake up around 4am to eat again then back to sleep til 8:30-9 o'clock.

Wow! What a good baby! That sounds great! :D

Yeah, as long as she is gaining weight and thriving, then I think you have nothing to worry about! What a sweetie for being such a good sleeper!

That is amazing that she only gets up once to eat!
My 14 month old still gets up more than that!

I also wouldn't do the cereal unless her pediatrician tells you to do it. The general rule of thumb is to start cereal at 4 months.

Don't worry about the gas, it is totally normal! All babies have it because they are getting use to digesting food. When Grace got a tummy ache (at least I thought she might have one), I would do the bicycle exercise with her legs, and kind of scrunch her legs and hips towards her tummy to push the toots out. Then I would sing "Gracie rides her bicycle, all around the room...." LOL! It is silly but it worked for her!
