I saw on the computer some vitamins called viral-free which states it can rid the symptoms of hpv. it is all natural and i was wondering if anyone has any info about these pills and if they have helped anyone. I don't truly believe in much these days so I dont rush to buy stuff because that would be foolish but wanted to see if anyone knows anything about them.

I often hear exercise, eating healthy and reducing stress helps control hpv-and I really have to start doing these 3 things consistently. I have been under extreme stress in the last 2 months -with the loss of my father so I am sure that also contributes to my again abnormal ascus pap-ughhhh. I feel so scared that I don't know what else to do in all honesty. anyway sorry if I sound like a nag but right now I am truly frightened and this is the best place for me to express this. to have gotten a normal pap 6+ months and now another abnormal one just seems really strange to me-i dunno what to make of it.

Kimie, I'm sad to hear your father passed away. :( The abnormal paps only add to the stress you are already under. You are in my thoughts and prayers!

Kimmie, my deepest sympathy to you and your family for your loss. I am glad you are here at the boards and understand your fear. I think the scariest part about HPV is how unpredictable it all is------having no control. I have been asking that question of can it ever go away or will I get better and they (my Gyn and Gyn/Onc) and they both say there is no answer to that question because it could but it could not. Yah, that is helpful. LOL! Anyhow, I hope you are doing better and let us know how you are. ;)

Kimie, sorry for your loss and for the stress of the abnormal paps.

This may be a bit long...

I did quite a bit of research on vitamins/supplements/nutrition. While I decided not to buy any of the pre-packaged stuff, I did start taking the following supplements for about 6 mos after high-risk HPV test / colpo / and LEEP:

- Folic Acid/Folate (AKA Vitamin M or B9) -- critical to synthesis of normal DNA as cells divide (why it is so important for child bearing years in general). Cervical cells replace themselves every 1-2 weeks, so it is important to make sure you are getting the recommended 400 mcg of folic acid every day.

Sidebar - another study I read showed lower folic acid concentration in the cells of oral contraceptive users than non-users -- it implied that if you are on the pill, it is doubly important to make sure you're getting your folic acid.

- Vitamin A/Beta-carotene -- helps to modulate the growth of cells. Note - Vit A can be toxic in large doses, so make sure you pay attention to dosing guidelines.

- Antioxidants in general (Vit A, C, E) etc. Rather than going crazy with supplementation, I tried to pay extra attention to getting nutrients from food - fresh fruits and vegetables, then supplement as needed

- Finally, Aloe Vera is reported to help the body absorb vitamins (especially C and E.) Some people have a hard time absorbing them (presence of H.Pylori - the bacteria that causes ulcers, not enough fat in diet, consuming fat substitues like Olestra.)

Anyway, I would eat right / take supplements as needed with aloe juice (um, not the best for the palate on it's own, but if you mix about an ounce of it in with juice - not too bad.)

I got a good pap 6 months after the LEEP, though I am due to go back in for another shortly. Ugh, wish me luck... I am dreading it!

Hope this info helps.

Also, Pro-Biotics are great for your health! You can buy them in pill form or they come in drinks called "Kefir".

I usually try to drink around 1/4 a cup a day. Although they say mostly about its digestive qualities... I think it gives you more energy and balances your body out.

I realize this message is older, but I wanted to offer some help if I can. The response by WannaBMomV above is excellent. My ND also told me to eat more greens, whole grains, increase green tea and foods rich in folic acid, and also a supplement called Papillex. I can't say for certain whether this method works as I haven't had a follow up pap, but the testimonials of the product make me extremely hopeful.
I'm sorry to hear of your dad, I hope some of the stress has subsided.
If you've had a follow up pap since your message, and it was good news, please share any tips you have. thanks
