I'm a life-long nail biter who bit a cuticle last week resulting in a PAINFUL infection diagnosed by my GP as paronychia.
Why now, after all these years?
Could it be related to the drug interactions (diagnosed by my dermatologist) resulting in painful blistering of the balls of my feet?

Paronychia is a painful infection of the nail fold (the eponychium that is commonly mistaken for cuticle) at the base of the nail. Paronychia is of the fungal family and is caused by the yeast Candida. It will begin in the nail fold whenever there is a cut, tear or break to the seal surrounding the nail unit. Youwill need to take oral medication and possibly use a topical treatment prescribed by your dermatologist.
