Today was a bad day. I'm starting to get caught up on lots of general health issues (check-ups mostly) but there are a few that led to more advanced tests and or procedures.

I'm struggling with anticipatory anxiety. A lot. Any one with suggestions on how to work through this? I need to have these things done. None are major.

Hi, Violet . . . it had been a few years before I went for a complete physical this past August. I was terrified of what they might find. My Pap came out abnormal (we are working on that and believe it may have been the Depo-Provera I was on for years, so am okay with that for now), my urine had a trace of protein (could be completely normal) and my HDL cholesterol was too low (eating more tuna and things of that nature to hopefully bring it up).

I was devastated when I heard these results but after talking with others I knew, I found out that these were really very minor things that with changing habits and adding supplements may improve on their own.

If you do not have any known health problems at this time, there is a good chance that they will either pronounce you healthy or they will just find minor things to improve on. It has been my experience for myself and people around me that anything you might seriously have wrong, you would already know about and be seen for before the physical.

Hang in there and put trust in the doctor doing the tests. If you have a good sense of humor, use that in your conversation during your examination as that lightens the mood for both of you.

Let us know how it goes!

Lindaru :)
