I had switched to a Mom & Pop pharmacy last month as a known chain had shorted me a couple months back ( posted THAT story ). Last night I went to pick up Duragesic patches ( Percocets not fillable until 20th as I had gotten off schedule with my percocets last month and filled that a little late ).Anyway, went to get the patches and the young kid at drive through was scanning a bottle in the computer instead of my normal bag of boxes. I am thinking to myself, OH NO,:(, they filled my percs early and I will have to pay a couple hundred dollars as insurance won't pay etc. The kid proceeds to tell my they OWE me 29 pills from last month. I was so happy :Das I was running low on the percs and I knew I had taken them as directed ( 4 a day ). I keep these meds locked up so you can imagine my surprise when I realized I was going to be short . I had even asked my 15 yr old last week if he had gotten in to them thinking he had seen me hide the key and the locked box one day. I told the kid at pharmacy that I was surprised they had "fessed up" as other places would have pocketed those extras. On my original bottle did NOT have the quantity circled I can only assume that on a routine bill check someone realized they had extra 29 pills and assumed ( correctly I may add) that I was the one shorted. I don't have time to count 120 pills every month but I think on Schedule II they have to circle the quantity. I guess now I will have to check the bottle for the quantity circled.
No question here really and sorry for the long post but I wanted to share wth everyone this PLEASNT experience at pharmacy and missing pills.

My guess is that the pharmacist knew at the time he couldn't fill the entire order and for whatever reason, he forgot to tell the tech, or the tech forgot to tell you that they owed you meds. When the re-stock came in from the distributor, they had automatically flagged your Rx to know they owed you meds. So, they did and you picked them up not knowing any different...All because they forgot to tell you.

As a side note, only independent pharmacies would partially fill a controlled script like that. If it were a chain, you would have had to forfeit the difference, or get a new script for the difference.

That is what confused ME. On my original bottle there was not a different quantity noted on the bottle itself, and I wasnt told there were less so it was a partial fill. I am just glad they fessed up so to speak. Good to know about mom & pops and partial fills like that

I know. that is why i shared this story. Too many times people have been shorted wrongly by pharmacy's.

Mom and Pop Pharmacies really rule when it comes to customer service! Not only does my particular pharmacy deliver (haven't needed that service yet!), they always fill a Schedule II without any fuss! If they don't have the whole amount, they will get the rest of the medication to you as soon as it comes in--which is usually the next day. Furthermore, they are honest as can be. For instance, when I had my wisdom teeth out, the dentist Rx'd 20 Percocet, but they accidently gave me 28 (because my Age--years and years ago, of course--was printed right next to the amount to be dispensed). My dentist uses a computer printout for his Rx's. I took the medication back, and they had me witness them flushing the extras down their garbage disposal system! The pharmacist said he couldn't "re-use" them. That made a huge impression on me!!

This thread is unusual...it rights some of the wrongs we CPer's suffer at the hands of pharmacies.

Sincerely,
Jon (Conductor)
