I'm 18 years old and was diagnosed with fibromyalgia about a year ago. I have tried so many different medicines and therapies, but nothing has eased the pain. I feel as if something else starts hurting every day, and the pain doesn't go away. I am not convinced that I have fibromyalgia. Everytime I go to the emergency with pain higher than a 10, I am always sent home because my blood work, and x-rays are fine. I understand that if there is nothing on the x-rays, there is nothing they can do. I can't count how many times I have been told that.

But when I have had a headache for over three days, nausea, pain in all my limbs, trouble walking, among other things, I am starting to think there is something else going on. I can hardly move my neck without throbbing in the back of my head, but yet every doctor brushes me off as being a fibromyalgia patient.
I'm scared, I have never felt something like this im my life and everyday it gets worse and doesn't let up. I don't know what to do, or what to say for a doctor to take me seriously, I'm just so scared that there is something serious going on in my body that someone is not seeing. And everyday that I try to ignore the pain and push past it I am only hurting myself more.

Hi tracey, since you are so young I would not give up on getting an answer. You have to make sure everything else is ruled out. Specialists I would try: rheumatologist, neurologist, endocrinologist. It could be something in your spine (neck) because you mentioned headaches. That could affect the whole body. A neurologist can check for things like MS or nerve problems. The endocrinologist can test for glandular problems, such an thyroid. The rheumatologist can test for arthritis or other autoimmune diseases.

I don't know if you have had any of these tests done, but keep looking. You could also check with a gynecologist for hormonal problems.

Good luck, let us know how it goes. Also, maybe take a parent or friend with you for support when you go to the doctor.

How are you doing? Have you tried a pain mgmt doc and trigger point injections for chronic myofascial pain. cmp is when your muscles knot up and the injection releases the muscle. find a pain mgmt doc that treats cmp/fibromyalgia and give it a try.

Sorry you feel so bad Tracy.
Sense you have had so many test check & see if you have ever had a CRP test done.
A CRP tests for inflamation in the blood. If you have inflamation see if they can figure out where the inflamation is coming from.
