I went to a psychiatrist who told me I should be on an antidepressant so I started taking Zoloft last Saturday, starting at 25 mg per day.
It's making me feel quite agitated and anxious about three hours after taking it but in the afternoons it makes me feel depressed! More depressed than I did before! Surely that's the opposite of what it's supposed to do?!
Anyone else experienced this sort of thing and does it wear off?

Stop taking it for a week and see if symptoms disappear. If they do then call Dr office and tell them you are having bad side effects to it and if doctor would suggest another.

Last week I started taking 50 mgs of Zoloft and then my Dr. said to bump it up to 100 mgs. I noticed that I've been fidgeting and tapping my fingers and feet on everything. It's like I have ADD and I can't sit still. The Dr. told me to try another week on 50 mgs before going back up to 100 mgs. I also take .5 mgs of Xanax to take the edge off, but right now it doesn't seem to work. I will give the meds a chance though, because they have to be in your system for several weeks before you will see any improvement. Maybe you should stick with it a little longer. I did notice that I have started to tune a lot of my annoying coworkers out without completely going off on the deep end.

I'm also on 25 mg, 2 weeks now. I'm feeling more calm, but I also notice, I get a little agitated at times. I'm giving it more time to see if it works for me. I'm afraid to increase dose as it might cause more side effects.

why not try St John's Wort?? I keep reading it works better than prescription drugs.
700mg daily, no side effects. Zero.
