Hi there:

I am a 29 year old woman with severe back and leg pain. I won't bore you with details but suffice it to say, my problem started when I was 16 and after a number of surgeries, all sort of other procedures and medications, etc. I am now considering a pump. I just went through my second stimulator trial (have it in right now, actually!) and it does help but I'm still not sure it's the right way to go, for a number of reasons.

So..my next alternative is the pump. But, I have some questions.

1. can doctors put methadone in the pump?
2. how long is the trial and what does it involve?
3. can the pump work for someone who is very thin? I am 5'8'' and 120 lbs, for reference. Do they come in different sizes?
4. what are the risks with the pump?
5. what is the surgery recovery like?
6. is the pump safe for pregnancy??

Finally, I worry about the pump breaking and having all the medication coming out at once. OR..what is the pump leaks?? That really scares me.

Any help you can give me will be very appreciated. Thanks so much!
