My husband had a stroke a few weeks ago and is currently taking aggrenox. He is experiencing difficulty in tasting things--not that he can't taste, but he gets a bitter aftertaste with foods. Also he is sometimes woozy/foggy, etc. Have others experienced any of this on this medication? He is an otherwise very healthy 49 year old male. The doctors have not been able to find any etiological reason for his stroke--his heart is fine, his cholesterol is fine, he doesn't have any kind of clotting problems with his blood. They have told us that apparently in about 20% of patients, no source for the stroke can be found. They kept him in the hospital for 5 days running tons of tests, but no source presented itself.
Fortunately he has no residual issues like paralysis or anything like that. He is back at work full time, but is experiencing what I mentioned above. I'd appreciate any feedback anyone can give me. Thank-you.

Kristrail,
I was on aggranox for about 5 months. Had no side effects at all. Check webmd.com.
Just fyi, had my first stroke at 42 (48 now). I had a TEE done at that time. They did not find anything wrong. Could not tell what caused the stroke, but i always thought I had a blood clot in my knee, but they said I could not have, it would have to pass through a hole in the heart and they did not find one. Now 6 years later, the found a pretty good size hole during an echo. I had it closed up in June. A TEE finds most defects, but not all. Hopefully your husband is doing good and will not have any problems in the future.
