Hi again, neon,

I just did a little research on the use of light boxes for the blind, and the consensus seems to be that they indeed may be of help, even though you can't see them. So I guess it's worth a try for you.

Let me know if you get one and how it works for you, okay?

Hi Seaturtle,

That's great to hear!

I'm going to talk to my tdoc about this further and when I do purchase a light box, I'll definitely let you know how well it works.

Thanks!

UKguy,

Yes, that's what I've heard as well. I suspected that I might have SAD due to the severe depression I experience from October-March, but my tdoc doesn't think that's the case since most people are depressed this time of year.

Instead, he thinks the cold, overcast weather is a "trigger" for my Bipolar which causes me to rapid cycle between mania, depression and irritability.

Once I purchase a light box, I'll be sure to let all of you know how it works out.

UKguy,

Alot of us who suffer from Severe Depression, like yours truly, have SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder), when it gets darker outside earlier, or during the winter when it tends to be grey and rainy or ugly outside...it tends to put us in a funk that doesn't help the depression that we're already feeling.

Just an FYI, thought you'd like to know more info.

thanks for the info! had a look on the internet at them. to buy over here they are about £30. i agree, looking out of the window and seeing rain, cold and wind is very depressing. anything that helps with this would be great.
