Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone can give me some guidance on this. We're trying a natural cycle after two failed cycles of IUI with Gonal-F and progesterone. I have PCOS so my cycles are fairly irregular, anywhere from 30-40 days. I was wondering if any of you have found that the previous cycle's drugs delayed ovulation or affected your next cycle in any way. DH and I are trying to plan a BD vacation and it would be nice to time it right. (Hoping it works because after this we're on to IVF.)
Thanks a lot!!

For July, we took a break from the drugs & IUIs and had a natural cycle.
The downside - I have NO idea if I ovulated. I have PCOS too, I suspect, and I did OPK tests for like 10 days straight, mid cycle from like cd8 to cd18, and the results were all over the place. Then again, even when I'm on meds the OPK tests never seem to reflect what my u/s & bw says... The other bad news (for me anyway), I got AF last night (cd 36 -- on the meds, I was usually at a 28-33 day cycle).
Now the upside - what a relief it was to take a break! I have absolutely no regrets. Not only did my DH and I get to remember that the BD is supposed to be romantic, taking a break also gave me a chane to reflect on our options, on questions I want to ask my RE (on Monday), plus I got to catch up on some bills. Most importantly, I am actually excited about this new cycle. The distance freshened up my outlook.
So, yeah, your cycle may be screwy and who knows if you'll even ovulate -- but maybe you will, maybe this is your month for a BFP. And if it's not, at least make sure the month counts for something, you know what I mean?
Best of luck to you -- keep us posted!
Laura

Hi Amyttc,
This is actually my 2nd letter to you today. I have had 2 cycles after gonal-f and neither was really normal. The first one after treatment was only a 24 day cycle with 9 days of inconsistant bleeding. The 2nd one was only 26 days and bled for 7 days. I will be curious to see what is going to happen this month. If my body decides it wants to be normal, I will be starting on Friday day 28. But who knows. My guess is that it just takes time to get back on track. Take care, Curry
