First of all I like to thank Sarka for guiding me in how to post a new topic. I accidently posted a response instead.
Anyway, I am 27 ttc for baby #3 after a tubal reversal 2.5 yrs. ago. After 3 failed iuis and one m/c, I am taking a break from all the drugs and trying to feel better. I am hoping to make an attempt at IVF in the spring and would welcome any advice in that matter. thanks, Curry

Hi Curry, I'm new too but I'm really impressed with the people on this board. Thanks for your reply to my post before. Sounds like you've been through a lot and I'm sorry for that, but IVF sounds very promising for you. I'm thinking about doing it soon, so I'll let you know how it compares to IUI. (Does IUI ever work??) Good luck!!

Hi Amy,thanks for writing. When are you starting an IVF cycle? I am waiting to use our tax return in early spring. I'm hoping we get enough to cover it. I actually found a place in Tarzana, Ca. that only charges 4,900.00. Places around here usually charge 10,000.00 or more. Is it pretty expensive where you live? As to your question about IUI ever working, I think the chance is only 10-20%. I decided that wasnt good enough odds for me. Talk to you soon! Curry

Welcome! I'm new here, too. I've done 3 failed IUIs with Clomid, and we just found out our fertility coverage is expiring Sept. 1, so we've moved on to IVF. We had to make the IVF decision very quickly, so it was a lot to take in at first. I'd advise you to do as much research as you can because there's enough information that will come to you from your doc's office to make your head spin. It helps to have some foundation of knowledge before you begin, and you have plenty of time. I really didn't think IVF was that bad. For me, it involved about 3 weeks of injections, and about 10 total trips to the doctor. I had very minimal side effects from the drugs. The retrieval was under twighlight anesthesia and I had no pain during or afterward. They retrieved 14 eggs, 13 of which fertilized. They transfered two embryos a week ago today. My test will be on Wednesday, so we'll see what happened. We have unexplained infertility and my RE thinks IVF has a great chance of working. Honestly, I think the hardest part about IVF is the waiting. Waiting to start the drugs, waiting to see how you're responding, waiting to find out how many eggs are retrieved, waiting to see how many fertilize, waiting to see how they develop. And now the longest wait of all, to see if it actually worked. But if you try to keep a positive attitude (and you should, because the chances of success are so good), it's not that bad. But that's my main advice, research, research, research! If you know why you're doing what you're doing, and what to expect, it helps so much. Good luck!

Hi Curry, I'll probably start in the early fall so I'll let you know how it goes. It is incredibly expensive around here too. Rachellara, we're rooting for you! Hope you're about to get a BFP!!!

amyttc - Thank you! I have no idea what to expect, but we'll see. If it's negative, we may do a "frozen" cycle which is a lot faster and less expensive than "fresh". If it's positive, you'll hear me shouting from the rooftops! I won't have e-mail access again until 8/10 or 11, so will post results then. All the best to you!

All the best of luck, Rachellara. Can't wait to hear how your test turns out on Wednesday. I will also be doing something kinda fun on Wednesday. I will be joining the Curvs gym for women. I'm having trouble taking off the weight I gained from using all the fertility meds. Has anyone else found this to be a problem? I want to lose it before I start my IVF cycle in the spring, so that if I so become pg, I be able to gain some weight and not look like an elephant!
Amyttc, I can't wait to be able to follow your ivf process, so that mine won't be that scary. Where are you from and could you tell me a little more about yourself? Take Care, Curry

Hi Curry, thanks for your message. I'm 39 and DH and I live in New York. Married only two years, and no kids yet. I have PCOs, but after a surgery to remove a uterine polyp, I got pregnant naturally this spring, then had a m/c in May. I'm so sorry to hear about your m/c, too. When was yours? Anyway, since the m/c, I've had two cycles of IUI's with gonal-f and both have failed. I think we'll try IVF as early as September or October. We really can't afford it, but we're going to be as aggressive as possible because of my age. (Luckily a problem you don't have!)
Take care,
Amy
