This is my first time posting, so I hope I'll get some replies. PLEASE READ THE WHOLE THING...

My skin is pretty clear, I rarely have bad overall breakouts (just a few bad pimples once in a while). It's been wonderful since I started using Celocin-T face pads and spot treating with Nicosyn cream (I'm telling you it clears up zits soooo fast...I wish I had it ten years ago!!!) Now the bad news: Last April, I had a small cyst on my face. My dermatologist injected it with some steroid??? Now I'm left with a pink, indented spot on my face. I've been using claripel bleaching cream and it's only faded the spot a little. Today my doctor switched me to TRI-LUMA.....SO HERE ARE MY QUESTIONS:

1. Has anyone been left with indented scars from similar injections? And will they fill in again over time?????

2. Has anyone tried Tri-Luma cream???? Did it dry you out really bad???

I'd so APPRECIATE any advice.

The injections are cortisone and I have heard a lot of people get scars like you described, not sure if they totally go away, but they will likely smooth out somewhat with time.

I still have the red injection scars on my face from the cortisone needle and that was done a over 1 year and 6 months. ALthough they have faded slightly, the marks are still there. I just keep wearing concealer cause its the only thing that makes it a bit better. Has your cyst cleared up since the shot? Becuase I'm contemplating whether or not I should get a cortisone shot for this cyst thats beginning now on my face. In my past experiences, it sometimes made it worse and hurt like hell!! ouch! Good luck!

hey js429,
I'd say avoid another injection at all costs! I'm so upset about the indents I have from the only two injections I was ever given. I'd try a cream like nicosyn or differin for your cyst. UGGG if this indent doesn't fill in at all..I'm gonna go nuts. I feel like my doctor kind of ruined my face.

Hey SpecialGal! I totally agree with you about avoiding the injections...so I decided to try Queen Helene's Mint Julep mask and I've been icing my cyst and it has helped soooo much!! I'll keep in mind what you said as well, but for now, I'm loving the mint julep!! Give it a try if have a cyst outbreak, (which i hope you do not!). Take care!

I actually had this problem about 2 months ago when my derm. injected one of my cysts. It left the only scar that I have...or had. I confronted my derm. about it since I was very upset, and she told me that it would fade away, and it did. But it faded within 2 months like she said that it would. I am not sure about over a year later.

When I posted about it here, I was very upset, and someone recommended that I tell my derm. about it and have them use a laser to fix it at their expense since they made the scar. It never came to that for me, but she said that her friend had this problem, and the derm. fixed it at his expense.

Just a thought.

Hey Newgirl,

How did your friend's doctor end up fixing her scar??? I'll wait a few more months to see if it gets any better. But I'd LOVE to know I had some kind of option to actually make it fill in and heal. I doubt my derm would cover any expense (I'm probably going to switch since she is not the most friendly person anymore). But any hope would be great! And thank you for all your replies.

Thanks for the replies!!
Hey Newgirl,
Do you know how the person you heard of eventually had their scar fixed??? I highly doubt I could influence my doctor to fix what she did but even the hope of being able to fill in the indent would be nice! I'll wait and see a few more months whether it heals at all. But any options would be great.

I had the same thing happen to me. My doctor injected 3 cysts and I wound up with three deep indents. The biggest indent was almost an inch long!

Needless to say, I was very, very upset!

The two shallower indents finally have filled in, but it took SIX MONTHS! The deepest and longest did not--I had my doctor put in some soft filler. It looked great for about 3 months, but now the indent is coming back, so I'll have to get more filler injected. In fact, my doctor told me the indent might be permanent. What's the purpose of using cortisone for cysts if you're left with a deep indent on your face? Doesn't make sense to me.

I found out from another dermatologist why you get indents from cortisone. It's because the doctor used TOO STRONG a cortisone solution on your skin. The indents do fill in, but it takes a VERY long time.

My advice: AVOID CORTISONE AT ALL COSTS
