Please Help!!!!! I am on ortho tri cyclen lo so obviously I'm not ttc. Around the time that I would have normally ovulated, I felt like I did but just blew it off b/c I just really didn't think that would happen. Then about a week later I thought I had implantation bleeding. Now that got my attention!! Around the time that my period should start I bled for 2 days. It was a lot lighter than normal, no clots, few cramps. Normally it would last 5-6 days, a lot of cramping and clots. I went ahead and took a pregnancy test a few days later and it was negative. I was so confused. I even felt pregnant and I know how it feels because I already have two kids. Any advise or input would be great!!!

All of your symptoms are potential side effects from being on the pill or just random things that have nothing to do with pregnancy.
- The pain you felt during "ovulation" could have been anything, not necessarily ovulation pain. Women frequently have unexplained pelvic pain throughout the month for any possible reason, it doesn't have to mean ovulation.
-I'm sure that wasn't implantation bleeding, it was likely just spotting or breakthrough bleeding caused by being on the pill. If you read the package insert that came with your pills, then you'll see that's one of the most frequent and common side effects of being on the pill.
-The lighter period with less cramps is the whole reason why many women actually go on the pill. Supposedly, the pill is supposed to cause you to bleed less, for fewer days, and it's supposed to make your cramps less or make them go away completely. I've never been lucky enough to have that happen myself while I was on the pill, but that's the reason why I went on in the first place. It made my period slightly shorter and maybe a little less heavy but many women report having little to no bleeding and/or cramps while on the pill. That's what it's supposed to do, allegedly.
I don't see where you'd assume pregnancy, when all of your issues can be explained by being on the pill itself. That's my take on the situation.

Just wanted to give you guys an update.
Ok. I know that someone said that I have no reason to think that I might be pregnant, but I'm begining to wonder. My "symptoms" have done nothing but get worse. My breasts are really sore (no not sore they HURT!!!!). I have been peeing like crazy. I'm extremely tired. I slept for 10 hours last night and felt like I could have slept 10 more. I'm very bloated and I've passed the part in my "cycle" where I should be that way. I've even had a metallic taste in my mouth some. I could go on and on. I've been on OTC lo since I had my last one who is 15 mo. I've never felt this way as side effects. I was even on this same pill before I had both of my kids for some time and have never had this. If anyone has any advice or comments, please send it my way!!!

Why not just take a pregnancy test? Or see your doctor. I have not been pregnant, but I can tell you that how your pill affects you can change over time! It happened for me. I seem to get PMS symptoms earlier, especially breast tenderness. My period kind of bounces around as far as heaviness. and things are generally just different than when I started taking it 3 yrs ago.
Plus, it takes me 4 days after I stop the pill to get my period, which only leaves 3 days before I start again. It's kind of weird.
Anyways, you should just get tested. Or maybe switch pills if you aren't pregnant. who knows, maybe continuing to take the pill while being pregnant is doing this!
Talk to your health care provider! It's your best bet at getting some answers :)

you should just switch to ortho tri cyclen. not lo. expecially since you've had 2 kids. i was on OTC lo before i got pregnant, and after i gave birth my doc put me on OTC. just to be sure you're getting enough. expesially if u don;t want another baby anytime soon. good luck to you. have you found out yet if you're pregnant?

everything you have described sounds like what naturally occurs when you're on the pill. how long have you been using? i know that on my earlier months, i would get cramps and discharge similar to what i got during ovulation, and i would also spot during the month. this is typical though, especially for you, as you're using a lower dose hormone.
as for your lighter period, on *any* birth control, the length/intensity of your menstration will be vastly changed. most women experience shorter and lighter periods, typically because what you're experiencing is not a period at all, just withdrawal bleeding from the hormone. since the pills trick your body into believe it is pregnant, an egg is never released, thus, there is nothing to expel each month. the only reason the withdrawal week is there is for peace of mind, really.
the short answer is: if you bled during your placebo week, i can almost guarantee that you are *not* pregnant.

I am trying to wait to see if I miss this next period which should come in the next few days. I have been on this pill for almost a year and a half and was on it for a few years before I had both of my kids and have never had this happen. I'm just probably being paranoid!!! The two days that I did bleed was before I even started taking my withdrawl pills. Was just confused about this and wanted to see if anyone had ever had this happen. Thanks for your comments!!!
