As far as I know, yes. I have complex partials and have been diagnosed with epilepsy, but have never had a sleep deprived test done.

Maria - if you have had two or more seizure events of any type - then by current standard medical definition, you have epilepsy. If they are infrequent, or atypical in some way, Docs will often just classify as 'seizure disorder'.
Having a 'normal' standard or sleep deprived e.e.g. does not rule out seizures or epilepsy.
In fact, nearly 50% of people with seizure disorders can show "normal" e.e.g'.s
Sleep deprived e.e.g.'s are only another tool to try and produce seizure activity in the brain during the testing. Sleep deprivation can contribute to seizure activity.
Best wishes,
Cate

Has he been diagnosed by a doctor and is he receiving ongoing care?
Can you give us any more information about the type of epilepsy/seizures/other symptoms etc?
Wishing you both all the best,
kyestar

i suffered from partial complex for 7 years, my eegs and mri's came back normal for years. Finally a mri showed a tumor behind my eye. normal eeg doesn't mean a thing, just makes it harder for them to find a cause. sorry, good luck to you! Did you have a mri yet?
