My 16 month old daughter is extremely outgoing. At first we all thought it was really cute because she's not shy at ALL. But it concerns me because she will literally walk up to anybody and everybody and want to hug/kiss. Is it too young to teach about personal space/stranger issues? Am I being paranoid? Should I consider myself lucky that I have a happy, go-lucky child?
Yesterday at Thanksgiving, we walked in and she made herself right at home giving hugs to complete strangers and wanting to be held. Of course everyone thought it was adorable, but the more I thought about it, the more I kept thinking that maybe it was a little odd...? She wanted to be picked up by people she didn't know!!!
What do you guys think? Do your kiddos do this too??

Laura,
I'd say consider yourself lucky! Ella is the complete opposite. She won't go around most people. Even if she knows them, it sometimes takes a while for her to warm up. My brother scares her on a weekly basis! You'd think she'd be used to him by now! :D I sometimes worry because she is so shy and reserved. When we are out anywhere, she is total Mommy's girl and runs to me at the first sight of a stranger.

OUr first little munckin was like this to and I had the same concerns. She is now 5 1/2 and happy and still very outgoing but I notice she has develope a more restrained attitude to people she doesnt know, as though she has calmed down alittle. Once she gets to know them she is back to her outgoing ways....She has come to her own healthy balance you could say. With time you can teach her about personal space but in the meantime admire her confidence.
