With my hip bones at -2.5, I try and walk more so that I can build them. BUT, I have an orthostatic problem in the last few years that makes me lightheaded if I'm upright too long(15-20 min) or in the heat. So my walking is limited to spurts of about 3-4 minutes at a time. If I try to do more than a couple of these spurts, my hip bones ache the next day. How do you exercise to build it up, but be so sore the next day? Is this normal, or is this not normal?

Welcome ~ Sorry to hear that you have pain in your hips. Do you know if any of your pain is muscle pain? The reason I ask is that you might want to try massage to relieve some of your pain and then may be able to walk further. I start exercising easy and then increase my time. Usually in the beginning I have lots of muscle pain which can be worked out with massage and also from the muscles getting stretched out and in shape. Will your doctor be able to help your orthostatic problem so you can be upright longer?

Thanks for answering. It is definitely bone pain, as when I walk, I can feel the pain as I put weight on that hip bone, and then the other.

I am 5'2" and 165#, so I know just walking should help build the bone, but just can't get past the bone aching afterwards. I notice the aching is worse when I supplement with about 1000 vit. D, so I cut back to about 400-600 for a while.

I have been going to a number of doctors to try and find the reason for my orthostatic intolerance, but so far, no answers. Just different meds to try, to see if anything helps.

Have you tried exercising in warm water to see if that causes pain also? I guess I've never really had bone pain but I imagine it feels like it's really deep in there. Are you taking any pain medication for this? I hope your blood pressure problem can be resolved soon.
