I have had fibromyalgia for a long time now, also have arthritis, costochondritis, hypothyroidism, ibs.
I live in Brisbane Australia, i have been reading the board and now have decided to join.
after a lot of different treatments I am now using a lot of natural therapies in conjunction with Celebrex and Panedine I take Fish Oil, Glucosamine and chondroitin, B vitamins, calcium and magnesium. Valerian to sleep.
I have issues with my liver from years of taking medications so i also take a Liver Herb.
Lots of issues with hormones over the years and I have really noticed a connection to how i feel and hormonal levels.
Of course could talk for hours about my fibro experiences but it is all as you have experienced.
my latest project is to try and accept my limitations without being upset by them. it is a work in progress...
thank you for reading hope to learn more about fibro as time goes on.

welcome rosebud,
in time you will be cool with life as it is. you will find the joy in those little things you once took for granted. like flowers and rainbows.
i have a saying i made up recently, know your limitations and excel within them. my new mantra for me. giggle.
i found the peace so i know it is there. i love my life and i actually love my fibro.
weird and wonderful. stress free.
peace,

Rosebud - welcome to the board! I am "back" from a 2 month period of just reading the posts. You have quite the "resume"; I am looking forward to hearing your stories of success. You say you are currently working on dealing with your limitations - and not being upset by them. I don't know how many years you've had fibro, but my experience is that I have to "go back" and review that topic now and again. It's kindof a cycle, you know, and you forget exactly how you managed your emotions before, so you have to stop and re-think it, kind of a review, and then continue on. You ever feel like that?
Anyway, I am sure you will have some good conversations, lots of supportive, kind folks here. :)
Wishing you peace and comfort,
Paddy

thank you Bluelakelady, i too have been a long term fibro and arthritis sufferer and have gone through many phases but always have been really trying to appear to be someone that is not suffering, so now i realise that i have to work around the pain rather than through it.
I have been through many differnt stages that is for sure.

Welcome, Rosebud,
And thank you for your post. You're right on topic (for me) with the acceptance issue. I find it to be a work in progress too, but, as someone else said, a work that repeats and repeats.
I've tried sooo hard not to be who I am (in terms of illnesses), to the point of feeling that they all belonged to someone else in a story, not me, standing outside myself watching them. Accepting them as mine is difficult and often frightening. Your post was one I needed to hear.

hi rosebud,
you are most welcome. for myself i found working within my pain easier than "getting thru it" and less stressful. i use my pain to inspire my art, and it does. in colorful ways that bring me up, up, up.
there will always be times when my body asks me to be still and allow rest, so i do. knowing when you can use your pain to do what you want and when to respect it and rest is a learning process. once i understood mine i found i had more energy than i did when i was forcing myself in spite of the pain. for myself it is a mindset.
i also have arthritis and a bunch of other junk that alters my abilities. adapting was not easy at first. now it is a way of life. remember your mind is your best friend, your strongest ally, you worst critic. ah, that last one! best to drop that critic. i bound mine up and taped her mouth shut. giggle. haven't heard from her in years.

You can get information from the Wonderful members here that you can't find anywhere else! Basic sites on Fibro are bias to the person's views who wrote them. Here, you can get a broad variety of perspectives, advice, ideas, and personal experiences... Also the Support. :D You can't beat it!!

Thank you all for your kind words and welcome, I am sure I will find this forum to be helpful. it is comforting to know that you are not doing this on your own. It is such an isolating disease.
