Blimey, my life is a pain in the bottom literally. I seem to have problems all teh time. I had a bad fissure operated on in 1999 and since then have only been to the toilet once without the use of gycerin suppostitories. Its take n years to diagnose me with an anismus (whatever that is) and am awaiting biofeedback treatment. In teh mantime my fissures reacurr and take months to heal. I cannot describe teh pain , it horrednous. I saw a surgeon who said he wouldnt want to operate again as i might end up incontenent....but heck I can't go naturally anyways. If I dont use the gycerin I never go , full stop, weeks and weeks and nothing . I am in so much pain that a colosomy bag seems an better option. It blights my life so much. The pain is all consu, ing and i get really snappy at people!! I dont like who i become when i have these fissures!

You have pelvic floor disorder and that could be causing your constipation. I have it too. I also just had LIS surgery for a fissure and I have skin tags that can be uncomfortable. Your pelvic floor goes into spasm and so does your sphincter muscle and it makes it difficult have a bm. I use miralax ever day. A capful before I go to bed and a 1/2 Tablespoon when I get up in the morning. I also eat about 25 to 30 grams of fiber a day. I have to be vigilant because I don't want to tear again. Fissures are so darn painful and they take a long time to heal. They can consume your every waking moment. Sometimes physical therapy can help it depends on what's causing your pelvic floor issue. They are usually caused by childbirth, ibs, previous operations and scar tissue and endometriosis. It might be worth seeing a urogynecologist, they seem to handle problems like that. Good luck and don't give up. Remember there are lots of people out their who share the same problem, Suzy.

thankyou. Yea lucky me. I also have endometrosis. No one has said this would be a cause of the anismus. More likely to be pyscholgical as I have had so much pain in that area. It was okay until I had ops for a fissure and endometrosis though. I also have the skin tags and keep getting throbotic piles and other health probs...lucky me...lol. I am awaiting biofeedback treatment for the anismus, where they retrain your bowel.

Your welcome, it's amazing how doctors tend to think everything is psychological especially where women are concerned. I met a really nice urogynecologist a few years back when I thought I had bladder problems, he was the one who told me it was more likely related to my butt. He warned me to get my ibs-c under control but I didn't listen. I thought taking miralax everyday wouldn't be necessary and now I wished I would have trusted him more. I only started the miralax after I tore myself trying to have a bm. If I could do it all over again I would have started the same day I saw the doctor. My problem is I have a tendency not to trust doctors and it's hard for me to listen when I finally find a good one. I now have a good gp, a good gastro dr. and a good crs surgeon. The last urogynecologist I went to was a jackass, she was rude and inconsiderate and I fired her butt, and it felt good. I wish you lots of luck, have you tried fiber or milk of magnesia or miralax. All of these can be used daily if that's what it takes for you to have a more normal life. Find what works for you. Suzy
