On Wednesday morning, I woke up in the middle of the night with diarrhea. It was dark/black and I thought "great, I have a flu bug."
Then later on that day, I had a BM that looked more like the normal color but like worms or ribbon-shaped. It startled me, but again thought it was just a bug.
I woke up feeling fine on Thanksgiving but still felt plugged up.
I've felt a heavy feeling (constipated) and at times burning around/on my anus.
Today is Sunday (day 5 of symptoms) and I've been driving myself crazy thinking about what it "could be" - so I'm making an appointment first thing tomorrow morning to see a GI specialist.
What can I expect on the first visit?
Do I need to have someone (i.e. my husband) drive me?
I'm a female, mid-late twenties, I'm not overweight - so I'm really concerned that 'bad things happen to good people' and that sometime terrible is wrong and I don't even know what caused it.
Thanks.

I called the GI specialist and their first availability is a week out. It's going to be a long week of waiting.
