Every 18 months, the International Osteoporosis Foundation hosts a World Congress where the leading osteoporosis researchers in the world gather to present research results, exchange ideas and talk to other researchers. The meeting was due to be held this year between December 3-7 in Bangkok, Thailand. But a few days ago, the IOF web site stated: "It is with great regret that the IOF announces the cancellation of the IOF World Congress on Osteoporosis in Bangkok. As you know, the political situation in Thailand has been, and continues to be unstable, and Bangkok international airports are closed. We regret that we have now reached a time when holding the congress is no longer a viable option."
This is very unfortunate for the osteoporosis research community, and for those of us who might benefit from that research. :(

I hope this can be rescheduled somewhere else without waiting for another year and a half. We need new treatments.

Is this the only place in the world where the meeting could be held?
